♥ Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette Review + Swatches! ♥

Hey my lovelies! As you probably already know I'm building up my own Mac pro palette and loving it! But i've realised I don't really want to use spaces with odd and out-of-place matte colours as I only have a few spaces left, so I decided to treat myself to to the Naked Basics palette!

I know I'm pretty late on the band wagon here (over a year...) and I'm so mad at myself for not getting this palette sooner!

All the colours in the palette are matte, apart from Venus wich has a slight shimmer too it, very pigmented and they have a smooth buttery texture which makes them easy to blend. The palette has all of those shades you always need but forget about (e.g. brow bone highlight, transition colour) and its tiny size and simplistic packaging make it perfect for travel (not to mention the huge mirror).

Lets take a closer look at the colours.

The first 3 colour in the palette are Venus, Foxy and Walk of shame.

Venus is a very light shimmery cream colour with neutral undertone. This colour is the most creamy of all the shadows and is perfect for an inner corner highlight as its very pigmented.

Foxy is a Matte pale muted yellow and Walk of shame is a matte pal muted pink. These two colours are both very creamy and easy to blend and are perfect for all-over-the-lid colours or for highlighting the brow bone. Again these have a good pigmentation even though they are so light.

From top to bottom; Walk of shame, Foxy and Venus.

Next up is Naked 2, Faint and crave. All 3 of these are smooth, buttery easy to blend mattes. These 3 are the most pigmented of the palette which you would expect as they are the darker colours.

Naked 2 is a perfect cool-toned light brown transition colour for the crease, a wash of colour over the lid or even to fill in brows.

Faint is a cool-toned chocolate brown which is great to darken up a look by adding to the outer third & outer crease of the eye to add more definition or again to even use for brows.

And crave is a black that is perfect to at some drama and smokey-ness to any look.

From top to bottom; Crave, Faint, Naked 2.

I honestly have nothing negative to say about the palette apart from that it does smell a tad strange (which is odd since my Naked one smells completely fine), and the price. It retails for £20 which isn't too bad but is over half the price of the bigger Naked palettes and doesn't come with a brush, primer or lipgloss. However, each shadow works out to cost £3.33 and are 1.3 g where as Mac eyeshadows are 1.5 g and are £10 each! So in comparison to that its a great deal.

I think this palette is a great addition to any makeup lovers collection and is a must have for those who need a simple look for school or work.

Thanks for reading my loves!

Meg xoxo

The Pink Edit

Hey my lovelies! So this is my first ever blog and I wasn't sure about what to post about so I had a look at my makeup collection and I realised a lot of newly favourite products are for spring and are pink, so I decided to tell you all about them! This is going to be a long post

So to start off with I chose some of my favourite pink cheek products!

I chose two off my highlighters, and neither of these are really that pink but they are cool toned so they have a pink tone too them.

The first of the two (top) is the Rimmel Wake me up shimmer touch in 004 shimmering sand.

First off all please excuse the state of this, it had one of those annoying security labels which left it sticky and then my foundation spilt onto it. -_-

Anyways about the actual product! This is supposed to be the yellow toned of the shades but it still has a pink sheen to it in my opinion! The consistency of this highlighter is actually really nice! Its creamy but not greasy so its appropriate for pretty much all skin types. This isn't the most pigmented highlighter in the world but its great for giving a subtle healthy glow to the skin. I like to apply this just to the highest points of my face (apart from nose) with my fingers and blend it out with my real techniques buffing brush.

What I like most about this product is that the glittery particles in this are very small and much more subtle than the wake me up foundation, so it looks really natural and healthy on the skin. And at only £4.99 this is amazing value for money! The only downside to this product is that it doesn't have the best lasting power, but with a powder highlighter over the top it lasts pretty much all day!

Next up is the oh so famous Mac mineralised skin finish in soft and gentle! This highlighter is absolutely gorgeous and one of my all time favourites! It's definitely one for evening wear as it is quite dramatic but it gives such a gorgeous glow to the skin and lasts all evening even though its a powder! The pigmentation of this is amazing so its going to last you a long time!

I would suggest only applying this to your cheekbones as it can look a little strange with glitter all over your face! I like to apply this with my real techniques setting brush for evenings out.

The only down side to this product is the price which is £22. However, I have had this since mid June and I have hardly made a dent so i do think it really is worth the money!

Now for the blushers! I chose two of my faves but they are completely different!

The first one (top swatch) is this Beauty UK baked blush in 02 rose. This product was kindly sent to me by Beauty Uk to review on my youtube channel (will be coming soon!) but all these opinions are my own!

This blush is a gorgeous rosey pink shade with a subtle shimmer. It's great for an everyday colour and i have to say that the pigmentation and lasting power (for the price) is amazing! I like to apply this with either my Bubbi Sculpting brush or my Real techniques blush brush to the apples of my cheeks and work it back to my hair line. This blush is only £3.99 as well and has a huge mirror in the box so its great to pop in your handbag for an on-the-go touch up!

I also chose my sleek blush in Pixie pink! This may look terrifying in the pan but trust me with a light hand it makes you look so healthy and just looks amazing! This blush is so so pigmented and had such an amazing lasting power. I sometimes wear it to school and it always lasts without fail. I like to apply this very softly with my Real techniques blush brush to give my face some colour.

As usual the sleek packaging looks so luxurious at the same time as being so practical with its compact size and huge mirror! And for only £4.49 it's an amazing deal!

For lips ive split it up in to two sections the first being more natural every day shades.

First up (top) is the infamous Maybeline Baby lips in pink punch (£2.99).

I have to start of by saying this product is good but it was incredibly overhyped. It's a gorgeous sheer hot pink which looks lovely on most skin tones depending on how sheer you apply it! The packaging is great too as its very compact and the lid doesn't easily come off so you don't have to worry about it going all over your bag! And this also does surprisingly last a good few hours on your lips too!

Next is the rimmel lasting finish 1000 kisses lip stain (middle swatch). This is just your basic pink lipstain and it looks goregous on pretty much all skin tones. It lasts a good 4-5 hours which is pretty good for the drugstore! It can be a little drying but it does come with a lip balm on the opposite end of the stain which helps! This retails for £4.99 which is really good bargain!

Here I have my Estee Lauder lipstick in Pink parfait which is a stunning muted pink with a slight sheen to it which would suit medium-light skin tones. Although the packaging says its a shimmer, it is very subtle and makes your lips look ver plump (in a good way).

This lipstick is very creamy and moisturising on the lips which is normally a good thing, but in this case I think it's what make the lipsticks lasting power not as great. I do still love this lipstick buts not one of my favourites as it wasn't the cheapest.

For a bolder pink lip I have 3 lip products that I LOVE. Admittedly these are all practically the same shade but they have very different finishes and formulas.

Revlon lip butter in sorbet (3rd from bottom swatch), oh how I love you. As most of you probably already have heard from about a trillion other beauty gurus, Revlon lip butters are AMAZING! They have the perfect pigmentation for people who aren't use to wearing bold colours, are super moisturising and so easy to apply. Sorbet is a bright true hot pink that looks gorgeous on so many skin tones and is probably the brightest of the three.  I love the packaging of this as you can easily tell which colour you've got and the lid stays shut too.The lasting power is average for about 3-4 hours and the only downside to the product is that it's a little bit more expensive for the drugstore but still definitely affordable.

This Bourjois Color boost in the colour fucshia libre is absolutely stunning. It's moisturising yet has a the staying power of a lip-stain. Its so easy to apply and just glides onto your lips like butter! Its alot more muted than the lip butter so it's a little bit more wearable and again will suit so many skin tone! It also has the same glossy finish that I love. The packaging is great as you can twist the bottom to give more product but it is deceptive as you get around the same amount as a short lipstick but I do still adore this product.

My final and favourite lip product, has to be this Mac lipstick in the shade likeable. Its very similiar to girl about town but its a little bit more wearable. This meats the happy medium of the other too as its as dark as the Lip butter but a little more muted like the Color boost. The formula of this lipstick is cremesheen which is my FAVOURITE Mac lipstick formula. Its so pigmented and looks like you have just applied it all day. It has a gorgeous semi-matt finish but It is the tiniest bit drying but nothing that some Vaseline can't help! Again i love the packaging of this as its very sleek and simple, however the downside to this is the price. Mac lipsticks retail for £15 which is quite a lot of money for a lipstick.
However i've not find a colour like this with the same finish in the drugstore yet!

For eyes I only have one product which is the Maybeline color tattoo in Pink gold. This is a goregouss shimmery pink color which is very similar to Mac's All that glitters and Urban Decay's Sin. These are super creamy, easy to blend, very pigmented and last all day. Andy they even have great packaging as its super compact and sturdy so great for on the go! This looks great as a wash of color all over the lid with Mac's Cranberry on the outer v and Mulch in the crease with Nylon in the inner corners. I also like to apply this with my fingers as I find its the quickest and easiest!

Finally I have my favourite pink scents!

The first is Yankee Candle's Pink hibiscus. This smells amazing! Its the perfect spring scent as its fresh yet still sweet! I'm awful at describing smells so heres Yankee's description - 'Bright and beautiful … the effervescent| slightly citrus bouquet of delicate tropical hibiscus petals is always inviting.'

Finally I have the Hollister body spray in Tidelands beach! This has a nice fresh sweet scent thats great for spring! It can be a little over powering as it is quite strong but with 1 or 2 sprays its lovely! Its made from cranberry, tiger orchid and caramel according to Hollister! This will definitely be one of my go-to's in the warmer months!

Congratulations if you made its this far that was a pretty long post! I hope you enjoyed it! Bye my lovelies! XoXo :)
